How to Switch User of Windows RDP ConnectionFollow these instructions to connect to a remote PC and switch to a different Windows user profile during an active RDP session. settings_ethernetStep 1 & 2: Establish the Initial Connection
Using the ShowMyPC application, check the RDP box before clicking Login to connect to the remote machine.
Once connected, you will see a window displaying the active RDP session. Keep this window open and make a note of the address it is connected to (e.g.,
127.0.0.1:52098).
switch_accountStep 3 & 4: Switch the Active User
While the original connection from Step 2 is still active, click your Windows Start menu, search for "mstsc", and press Enter to open the native Remote Desktop Connection client.
Enter the connection address you noted earlier (e.g.,
127.0.0.1:52098). Click Show Options to change the username, then click Connect. Note: You can close the original window from Step 2 right before you click connect here.
If the Step 2 window or any other RDP session is still active on the remote PC, you may receive a prompt stating that someone is already connected and asking if you would like to disconnect them. In that case, proceed to disconnect the other session to complete your login.
